Fractional Resurfacing

Until today, most lasers treated the skin with high power levels and macroscopic spot sizes. The problem with this approach is that healthy tissue is often damaged along with the skin that is being treated. In addition, there was no overriding technological intelligence for controlling the amount of thermal injury that the skin receives.

Reliant's approach is based upon the evolving science of Fractional Photothermolysis. This has been developed by Drs. Rox Anderson and Dieter Manstein of Harvard's Wellman Laboratories in collaboration with Dr. Scott Herron and Len DeBenedictis, of Reliant Technologies.

Treating the skin fractionally with patterns of microscopic laser spots, each of which is 70-100 microns in diameter, results in a unique wound healing process. This is aided by the fact that each laser spot (known as a MicroThermal Zone, or MTZ) is surrounded by healthy tissue. Many of the stem cells and melanocytes in the papillary dermis are spared. Fractional wound healing results in both rapid reepitheliazation of the epidermis as well as collagen remodeling to depths of 400-700 microns.

  • FRAXEL RE:FINE

The Fraxel re:fine™ laser system, introduced in 2007, offers patients – and physicians – an additional choice in non-invasive skin rejuvenation. Combining a more superficially absorbed laser wavelength with Fraxel’s unique fractional delivery, the Fraxel re:fine treatment offers a gentle yet effective option for improving skin texture, tone, pigmentation and fine lines – all with minimal patient downtime or discomfort.

FDA clearances

  • Pigmented lesions
  • Periorbital fine lines
  • Melasma
  • Skin resurfacing
  • Soft tissue coagulation

Advanced technology

The Fraxel re:fine laser combines fractional technology, medical software and a user-friendly interface to provide a safe, effective treatment option. Features:

  • Ergonomic roller tip for a gliding hand motion
  • 1410 nm wavelength
  • Intelligent Optical Tracking® System, which adjusts to hand speed and ensures uniform treatment
  • Precise spot size and lesion depth specific to individual treatment

Safe treatment, safe laser...increased revenue

The Fraxel re:fine laser’s 1410nm wavelength provides a non-invasive superficial treatment safe on all skin types and body parts.

With every Fraxel® laser, we have incorporated intuitive safety features preventing the laser from firing unless the hand piece contacts the skin and the footswitch is depressed. The pre-programmed treatment parameters ensure another level of safety and confidence enabling physicians to delegate the treatment to their staff and increase their practice’s profitability.

Patient benefits

With a full-face treatment typically taking 20 minutes, the Fraxel re:fine laser delivers remarkable results - with minimal downtime. That’s why Fraxel® laser treatment is the procedure that patients ask for by name.

- FRAXEL RE:STORE

The Fraxel re:store laser system, introduced in 2006, is the accepted gold standard for nonablative fractional resurfacing on the face, neck, chest and hands. Adopted worldwide by more than 2,500 physicians in 45 countries, the Fraxel re:store laser delivers remarkable results, minimal patient downtime, clinical flexibility and ease of use.

FDA clearances

  • Periorbital wrinkles
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Melasma
  • Soft tissue coagulation
  • Acne scars and surgical scars
  • Actinic Keratoses

Advanced Technology

The Fraxel re:store laser is designed to provide the most efficient delivery system for the best possible skin resurfacing results. Features:

  • Ergonomic roller tip for a gliding hand motion
  • Up to 1,000 Microscopic Treatment Zones (MTZs) per square centimeter in a single pass
  • Intelligent Optical Tracking® System, which adjusts to hand speed and ensures uniform treatment
  • Selectable energy, treatment levels and number of passes, so treatment can be tailored to patient needs
  • Optimized spot size based on chosen parameters

Safe on all skin types, on and off the face

The Fraxel re:store laser is safe and effective on Fitzpatrick skin types
I-VI and on all body parts. The laser fires only when the scanner detects relative motion between handpiece and the skin and when the footswitch is engaged. And to prevent over-treatment, the number of MTZs is matched to the speed of application. Thanks to this safety and ease of use, physicians can delegate the treatment to staff and improve practice profitability.

Nonablative efficacy

The noninvasive Fraxel re:store laser delivers remarkable results with minimal downtime. That’s why Fraxel re:store laser treatment is the procedure that patients ask for by name.
